how do i change the subtitle position when re-authoring a dvd using DoItFast4U, DoCCE4U & ReAuthorist?

i have a 4:3 widescreen movie with 4:3 subs..i want to reauthor it so that i can zoom in on my widescreen tv..

DoItFast4U! uses vsconv.exe, which produces full screen bitmaps from the idx/sub.

I'd think you'd need to use SubRip on the idx/sub (SubRip is 7 frames off, on PAL DVDs anyway, if you rip directly from the vobs, so don't do that), fiddle with the positing settings until they are like what you want, and save the bitmaps in Scenarist format. But save them over where the vsconv subs were extracted, so that reauthorist will import them.

Shouldn't take much effort :)

for some reason it doesn't matter what i change the top position to in subrip.. they stay in about the same position..

You are not saving fullscreen bitmaps are you?

maybe it's best to start at the beginning to avoid confusing..

i open the substitles with subrip.. what's next? (:

I'm using 1.17...now...I was going to say

Open idx
save pictures as BMP
select location
select sonic scenarist preset
in cropping tab make sure allow BMP cropping in unchecked
in positioning window check allow BMP position change
In top position (y) click on "set to" and set value until sub where you want (subtitle displayed should move accordingly). And keep in mind that some subs will be 2 lines (assuming the first one isn't).

The problem is I just tried that and Scenarist won't import the resulting sst. Bah. So perhaps this method won't work with Scenarist. You could try Maestro though, if the VTS is single PGC.

Sorry, can't help any more than that :(
