I am able to play OGG and OGM files, but every time I try to play them I get this error message.
The selected file has an extension that is not recognized by Windows Media Player, but the Player may still be able to play it. blah blah blah.
I check the check box so it won't ask me again, but every time I play a file it does it anyway. Does anyone know how to turn this thing off?

Another program is probably associated to *.ogm or *.ogg extensions. Right-click on a file with *.ogm/*.ogg extension and choose "open with" then choose the Windows Media Player (or the player you ant to play this kind of files) and make sure that "Always open with this program" is checked. "accept" and you're done.

No, thats not it. If I double click on the files it does open in windows media player. Before it starts playing it gives me that message.

I know that. I know it opens in WMP and pop up that message, so: this extension are "stolen" by another program everytime, even if you answer "Yes" to the pop window message. So, to avoid that, try to do what i've suggest, if it doesn't work then i don't know.

The file extention proberbly isn't even registered.Try registering it as a new file type.Windows Explorer=>tools=>folder options=>file types.
[EDIT]sorry, obviously if wmplayer opens when double clicking the file extension must be registered.I would still reccommend changing the file association under folder option though as changing it here will make it stick.

It is already registered with windows media player. I wish it was that easy. For some reason, even though it is regeistered with it, it still brings up the message like it doesn't know.
