Is there a non-destructive way to recover NTFS partition information? Ive' got OnTrack Easy Recovery Pro so can pull the files off this drive whidh just went AWOL. However, it's a 250G NTFS (Win2k). That's a lot, and it was packed. Does anyone know of a reversible way to recover the partition definition? IOW, if the recovery doesn't work, it gets returned to the original configuration.

Maybe you should try a File Scavenger (http://www.quetek.com/prod02.htm?source=google) utility?, personally I never tried it but I've seen many enthusiastic reports of people who (successfully)used it.

That's what EasyRecovery Pro does so I've already got that capability. Poking around, I've found there are ways to recover the boot record itself which means all the files don't have to be pulled off. However, I'm starting to think it might be worth it to pull the files and redo the drive. It takes longer but maybe it's safer than assuming other important parts fo the drive are ok.
