yes. The application starts and closes very quickly. Running WinXP SP2.
EDIT
Just found an "export.csv" in the application's directory, so it seems like it's exporting there (overwriting current file). A suggestion would be that the user could specify the output file name and location. Also, running videoinspector /? really should show a CLI-help :)
EDIT#2
Looking at the export file, here's some more suggestions. An export-file is often used for other applications, such as movie-databases etc. The data in here should really be importable. For example, instead of reportign a file size like "11,8 Mb.", it could be reported in exact bytes, without spaces & dots etc, like "12420884". Same goes for Video Bitrate, Quality factor (also there, "DivX" doesn't say much really, v. 3, 4, 5, sub-versions etc). :)

Hey
Do you know how to identify the divx container from the avi container?
.divx and .avi are 2 different containers.
While the DivX container (introduced by Divx 6) is not supported yet, AVI container is supported by VideoInspector.
Of course Divx Video streams embedded in AVI are supported.

is .mp4 already supported?
.divx and .avi are 2 different containers.
While the DivX container (introduced by Divx 6) is not supported yet, AVI container is supported by VideoInspector.thats not true...
.divx is .avi with extensions not breaking the compliance to the avi format
if you dont use chapters, subs and menus .divx is 100% the same as .avi

Could you make a basic/lite version of VideoInspector?
That version should only contain the core functionality, namely giving as much information about a media file as possible. So just one button: "browse". And perhaps a button to save the info to a text file (or copy to the clipboard).
Any other of the current features should be excluded. Specially the codec detection feature. It does not support DirectShow filters. As a result VI will often show codecs as "not installed" (which is true, but that's not the point), while those codecs are not even needed, because a DirectShow filter is installed. That is extremely confusing for newbies, who in result start downloading all kinds of codecs that they don't even need.

Very interesting tool. Above all I interested to useful media fps information.
Why this software doesn't support MPEG-2 (commonly the DVD media)?
However, I hope to be/do in the right place (maybe slightly OT), I would like to know if exists a simple tool that recognizes only the fps and next executes a program or batch based on this value. You could think: why? For an HTPC use.
I use Meedio front-end software (with a useful plugin: PlayMee), that permit me before, and after, launching a player to executes a pre-post command (anything: exe, bat etc... with command line parameters too).
The problem is that exists 3 common broadcasting formats: CINEMA (24fps), PAL (25fps), NTSC (30fps).
To obtain a smooth playback on my PC I just have to make sure that my video card uses a refresh rate that is an exact multiple of the movie that I play.
So, how can I automatize this operation (to change the refresh rate for every media played) that, in this moment, I must perform manually?
The best solution could be an application that inspects the media to know the fps and permits to launch, for every single situation (24fps, 25fps, 30fps), through another application, the right refresh rate? PowerStrip, for sure, could do it: it supports command line parameters to force a particular display setting.
Does exists a similar utility? Or is it only in my dreams?
Best regards,
stealth82
P.S. Sorry for my english :p

Does VideoInspector still come with RelevantKnowledge in the installer?
Any and all software that includes RelevantKnowledge does some very nasty things to my Vista x64 system. I'm not even referring to actually installing it. Any setup program that contains it nearly locks my system up as soon as the setup is initiated.
