I'm praying someone on this forum has run into this problem in the past and solved it. My DVD-ROM drive will not recognize a DVD movie. I get the 'cannot recognize format in drive G:' This goes for every DVD movie I rent, etc. However, my friend brought over an old DVD (1996) of the 'Wild Bunch' which has a disk burned on both sides (A&B) and it works just fine. Power DVD opens up and I can play the movie! DUH. I flashed the firmware to v. 2.06. I checked on the net and this drive is locked (RPC2). Is this the problem? All the DVD's I've rented have been region 1. I downloaded and executable file to unlock it, I guess, but I'm not sure this is the answer. This problem is so strange and no one has run accross it before. Please help me out here. Thanks.

Maybe your DVD drive isn't region 1. Look in device manager.
