View Full Version : ZoomPlayer + matrix mixer+ matroska = high cpu?

Hi guys, i have a problem:
Many times ago i used ogm container format and with that i had low cpu use and good quality (but high overhead in size).
Now i use matroska. Yeah it's the best but it continues to change (the schema before, soon the tag system and in the future...). But in addiction i have a problem and i think this is a common problem:
i use zoomplayer and normally i put two audio streams on the movie, i also use matrix mixer and reclock. Matroska is my format.
I don't use mmswitch because it causes problems with reclock. Now with media player classic i have one reclock icon in systray and when switch with the inside switcher matrix mixer stops running. With zoomPlayer (very good player) matrix mixer doesn't stop but i have two reclock icons, two active decoder instance and so on.
With vorbis audio tracks, this is not a problem because the cpu usage is about 45% but with aac, especially he, the cpu utilization grows up until 95-99 % and i use ffdshow!
It is a strange problem if we consider my configuration:
xp 1700, 512mb ram.

Thank you for your patience

With zoomPlayer (very good player) matrix mixer doesn't stop but i have two reclock icons, two active decoder instance and so on.

In the filter properties there should only be one Reclock renderer, 2 AAC Decoder instances, 2 matrix mixer instances
Which audio stream ( --> decoder and matrix mixer) is active can be selected with the ZP's internal stream switcher.

I have an Athlon XP1600 and CPU load is about 40-75% with Zoomplayer/MKV: XviD/HE-AAC/MatrixMixer

If you have ZoomplayerPro you can manage your filter setup easily with the Customized MediaPlayback setup:
ZP forum thread (http://forum.inmatrix.com/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?s=400ef5042643ffff;act=ST;f=7;t=2448;hl=matrix+mixer)

Maybe you have not the latest versions from all filters( MatroskaSplitter/CoreAAC/XviD/matrix mixer...) ...that would probably explain the high cpu load.

No i have two instances of reclock, one for each stream.
I have the latest version of all filters!

Don't you have my same problem?

No, I don't have your problem, all works well here.

Generally the ZP's internal stream switcher should avoid that 2 audio renderers(reclock) are in use at the same time.

I would try one after the other:

*Make sure that no mmswitch is registered (mmswitch and ZP's internal stream switcher don't like each other) : options --> Filter control--> Managment and unregister MMswitch

*Uninstall ZP and reinstall ZP(newest version 330) again.

*If you installed codec packs which messed up your system, I would recommend to read "Last resort" section (http://www.inmatrix.com/articles/mediasetup.shtml) of the Media Setup Guide(last site]...

Ps.
some options in ffdshow are really cpu hungry (postprocessing,deinterlacing...), maybe you ticked an option unintentionally.

There seems to be an issue with the Matrix Mixer... we noticed it with TCMP too... Blacksun posted about this today.

I'll ping the Matroska devs about it... thx

There is an issue with AC3Filter that makes it ignore messages to stop, and since this Matrix Mixer filter is derived from the AC3Filter it may suffer similar issues.

Ah ok but there is no way to put the switcher after reclock and before decoder?

The schema:

matroska->splitter->audio->decoder->switcher->matrix mixer->reclock

Is it possible?

Finally i found the solution to my problem.

Activating internal zoomPlayer dsp, matrix mixer died but setting primary audio driver, the problems went away.

I had to get rid of Matrix Mixer in the end - I couldn't get audio in any container to play without stutters every few seconds or so
