I currently capture my video via a standard coxial connection from the wall. The noise is horrible on the line and I was noticing I get better picture from my SVideo port on the back of my cable box in each room. So for a test I hooked up the SVideo into my TV capture card and capped a 30 minute show that I capped just the day before (Back to back episodes). The noise was gone and much better. Now I have a Leadtek 2000XP deluxe card and have no issues with it other than the noise I get. My goal was to write some scripts in windows or linux to auto change the channel a minute or two on the cable box using a IR blaster. Anyone had any experience in this kind of setup? I was doing some research on MyIR Blaster setups and using HERemote.

BTW My cable box would be a Sci Atlantic 3X00 Series.

I answered my own question and did some research. Bought one of those MyTv IR Blasters that is USB and it works like a champ. I have AT jobs setup to switch the cable box channels a minute before the scheduled capture begins and now I use Svideo in on my leadtek with 0 issues.
