avi to dvd

newb here...but I'll try and describe my problem the best I can. I have a DVD burner and I was trying to figure out how to convert an AVI file so I can watch it on a standalone DVD player. I used the AVI2SVCD Guide on this site for instructions (says the instructions also work for dvd if you just change the output).

I have DVD2SVCD 1.2.1 with my input set on AVI and my output set on DVD.
I have TMPGenc 2.5 and Sonic Scenarist 2.6

I loaded my AVI and it began the process. The instructions said that I should end up with a discimage.dvd file, but what i ended up with was


Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_NTSC.mpv
Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_NTSC.mpv.vif
Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_NTSC_CQ_TEST.mpv
TMPGEnc_Project_file.tpr

I have no clue what to do with these files. Its not an image so I cant write with dvd decrypter. I tried dragging the files into NERO DVD video files, but it does not recognize them. Did I screw something up or am I on the right track but just not finished yet? Thanks to anyone that can shed some light on the subject.

Hi buddy, welcome to the forum.
It sounds like the process didn't finish. Perhaps an error in Scenarist occurred.

If you read the sticky linked from the bottom of the rules page, it tells you how to make a good post (this is not a bad first try btw :) ) and asks you to :logfile:. This contains the necessary information to track down most problems. So if you could cut and paste the contents of this file into a reply to this post it would be a great help.

In the meantime, if you still have the Encoded_Video_TMPGEnc_NTSC.mpv file and a file called Encoded_Audio_1.mp2, you could use IFOEdit (freeware) or TMPGEnc DVD Author (30 day free trial) to create the DVD files manually. The latter is probably most straightforward and has an engine to burn the output, but unfortunately doesn't support subtitles. You should find plenty of guides around for either and it would save you starting again.
