View Full Version : DVD Decrypter allowing stand-by

Something I've found with DVD Decrypter is that it allows the computer to go into stand-by/hibernate while it's burning. This is really only an issue when burning -RWs @ 1x, as I have my computer set to hibernate after 30 minutes to conserve power. Has anyone else encountered this, and is there a possible fix (aside from extending my time-out period)? Both Nero and RecordNowMax prevent this, but I really don't like using those for DVDs.

And on the same note, what is the proper way to inform LightningUK of this? The only e-mail I could find was (REMOVED) but wasn't sure if that was the place to submit bug reports.

Firstly, dont be a fool and post email address - EVER.

All that'll happen is you (or me in this case) will get spammed to death. I really dont appreciate that.

This is by no means a bug. I do not allow standby, I just dont do anything to stop it. Why should I? If the machine cant workout its busy, thats its tough luck. I hate it when people consider missing 'features' bugs. Windows XP doesnt support themed bottom tabs. Does that mean its a bug? No! Microsoft just never bothered to implement it because they believe people should use top tabs only.

Also, conserving power makes sense on laptop machine running on battery power only but on desktops this is a bit OTT dont you think?
If you are using a laptop, surely you'd have it running on AC when burning - in such cases, a different profile would kick in an hibernation wouldnt happen. Just get it to turn the monitor off.
I cant imagine every app in the world would need rewriting to stop the machine hibernating when its running in the background? Maybe they do, I dunno. I just think that would be bad on Microsofts part.

Damn man, calm down. I didn't mean to insult you or your program. You may have written an awesome program (and I appreciate it), but you sound like a f***king asshole.

And as for conserving power, I don't see a need for my computer to be running for 12 hours while I'm out of the house.

Thanks. ;)

As for saving power when not at home - that's what the "shutdown when done" option is meant for, I guess :) ...

Sorry but posting my email address is like me posting your home address. I dont want spam and you dont want f**ked up people turning up on your doorstep.

I didnt consider your first post an 'insult', your second one was though. I'm not an arsehole, just sometimes people get to me - especially those that dont have a clue.

It doesnt matter what program you use for burning the image, its the file system creation part that's important. Not sure what you use for that... ImgTool classic maybe?

So basically, stop using DVD Decrypter if its not working for you and use Nero or Recordnow max instead.

OvERaCiD23, unless I'm mistaken, you can use the edit button to remove the email address :)

The email address is freely available, so I don't think it -at all- clear that OvERaCiD23 should have known that he was doing something wrong.

At least a mod could remove the mail address...

I think there is no problem to checking the shutdown checkbox and let the PC work without conserving power until DVDD has finished. After DVD Decrypter has finished the PC will shut down... and this is the best way to conserver power, isn't it?

So where is the problem?!

btw. Bottom tabs are a great idea... lets do a revolution against M$ until they implement bottom tabs :D !

...and also btw. Here in Germany it's not that good idea to designate someone else as f****ng a**hole. Everybody own such a "special hole" but also much more important things to talk about...

Why don't you just set your computer to shut down after 60 minutes instead of an hour? Then you'll definitely have finished burning the DVD before it goes to hibernate mode?

Try not to insult people on this board, especially someone who writes free software that makes all of this possible.
