I was wondering what the best way to back-up a dvd is. I currently have dvdxcopy express but I strongly dont like the extra screen it has. I have also tried to reback-up the back-up for testing pourposes and it cannot be done. With my child even a back-up wont last more than a month with finding nemo. I have used dvd decryptor to change it to avi to counter the previous prob, but i cant convert it back. Any help is greatly appreciated... also links to any other programs that could help too... :confused: :confused: :confused:

use dvdshrink. No extra screen and u get to choose what to keep and what to discard

Hi. I would echo Odysseus' advice about DVD Shrink. You could use the reauthor function and keep only the main movie. That way when the little one pops the disc in the machine, it will play automatically. (which might save wear and tear on your remote control as well)

Simple and fast solution,
Use DVDdecrypter (or similiar) to rip the movie, then if necessary use DVDfab to stick it on two DVD's. Burn it. Entire process will take about 60 minutes, including burning time!

If you try and reduce it to get it onto one DVD, (ie DVD shrink) add anywhere from 6 to 12 hours for the re-incoding process depending on your system.

Keep the "master files" on your computer, cos if your letting a child that is young enough to like Nemo handle DVD's, the DVD's are not going to last long!, you'll be burning a few.

I actually encoded Nemo to SVCD for my kids - took a while, but blank cd's are lot cheaper than blank DVD's!

if u r following a one-click-backup-program like dvdshrink there is noway that u will need a 6 to 12 hours for the whole proccess. A max of 60 mins is enough.

I would advise on checking the validity of your information prior to submiting them.

Again, I will echo Oddyseus. I use DVD Shrink 3.0 Beta 5 on an HP Media Center with Windows XP. DVD Writer is Sony DRU-510UL and media is 2x. It takes about 30 mins to decrypt, and 30 mins to burn.
Not sure under what circumstances you'd need 6-12 hours??

totally agree with odysseus!!

just wanted to add that, if you want to make a backup of the backup all you have to do is copy the disk in iso mode to your hd with dvddecrypter and then burn it again...

that's it!

as for plain old back-ups the dvdxcopy even copies the 7 gig dl's onto one disc. I have come across movies that even after stripped to the main movie are still 2 disc.

Well yes this calls for the three step solution

1. Sorry

2. New resolution - check notes - dont rely on (faulty) memory before replying!

3. Remove foot from mouth.

Forgot DVDshrink was one of the new "wonder" transcoders.....
You are perfectly correct - very quick and reasonable quality.
