View Full Version : How To Cut Between Keyframes ?

let's say I have this video: (XviD/DivX)
10 seconds long, keyframes at zero and five seconds.
I would like to remove first 2 seconds.
I assume something must regenerate a keyframe @2second and use that as a start ?
how should this problem be solved ?
(recompressing again with lossy compression is no good option)
thanks

Unfortunately thats the only option you have. To minimize the damage,
- cut out the first keyframe range.
- recompress the part you want
- stick it to the rest.

thanks
- I hope some of the virtualDub guru's will some day automate this process.

the process is not really automatable in the current state.
Unless vdub might be able to process during the same pass
in full processing// fast recompress and direct stream copy.
Basically the splices need to be reencoded, when the rest of the stream needs to be stream copied.
Since there is no way to actually specify that,
and since it is easier to do it by the hand,
you'll probably won't see this 'feature'...
and recompressing again might be the only available solution,
except if the keyframe are compressed lossless ...
(if i'm not wrong, it s an xvid encoding option, right?)
