Hi
I recently basked UP lotr2 which was my first attempt at backing anything up. It split the film at chapter 27.
When I tried to play the second disk it would not play until I skipped forward to chapter 27.
Is this normal when backing up with DVD FAB and is there a way to change the chapter numbers on the second disk so it would play straight away without having to skip the chapters ion the first disk.
Cheers

This happens to me. Did you see a Changegraphic saying to insert disc 1? I think you can load the movie into dvd shrink and use start and end to take out the redundant chapters?
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Open up your 2nd disk movie's IFO with IfoEdit and go to / PTT_SRPTI. I believe your chapters to your movie is configured in TTU_1 PTTs:. If so, edit PTT_1 to PTT_27 as follows by double clicking on them and changing the values.
PTT_1: Programm Chain number (PGCN) 1
PTT_1: Programm number (PGN) 1
.
.
.
PTT_27: Programm Chain number (PGCN) 1
PTT_27: Programm number (PGN) 1
For the rest of the your PTTs, just increment the following PGNs like so.
PTT_28: Programm Chain number (PGCN) 1
PTT_28: Programm number (PGN) 2
PTT_29: Programm Chain number (PGCN) 1
PTT_29: Programm number (PGN) 3
PTT_30: Programm Chain number (PGCN) 1
PTT_30: Programm number (PGN) 4
PTT_31: Programm Chain number (PGCN) 1
PTT_31: Programm number (PGN) 5
.
.
.
PTT_##: Programm Chain number (PGCN) 1
PTT_##: Programm number (PGN) ?
If you go your VTS Overview and look at your PGC_1's chaptering, you'll see your changes. There must always be a chapter 1 so it can't be changed or displayed as Chapter 27. Save your IFO and play to test. I hope this works for your second disk. And one thing, prior to doing any edit, backup your IFO and BUP first. ;)

2Cool,
I have a somewhat similar issue when i use DVDStripper to split the movie to two disks. When i start the second disk, the player will cycle through the missing chapters before it plays one that is actually on the disk. Of course i would rather it just start with the correct chapter. Will your instructions above fix it?

Will your instructions above fix it? Well, sort of. I think I posted part of the fix. The other half has to do with the movie's Program Map in it's VTS_PGC. It might be a matter of trial and error as I don't know how the original chapters/cells wer laid out in the original.
