Hi

I am putting together a HTPC (if interested you can view it http://forums.overclockers.co.nz/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12599)

To get better airflow I want to replace the Gforce2 AGP card with a PCI card with TV & DVI ouputs.

Naturally the tv-out quality is a main concern in my choice of videocard. Can anyone point me in the right direction of which tv-out chips deliver the best picture quality and maybe recommend any PCI cards. I was initially thinking about a FX5200 card.

All thoughts/comments welcomed.

I'm happy with my ATI Radeon 9200 VIVO !!!

Especially because this... (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38304&perpage=20&pagenumber=4) :D

And its very cheap too... ;)

I tested following tv-outs:
3dfx v3 3000:
too much banding / big boarders on left and right side

GF2GTS:
big boarders around the whole image

Radeon 7500:
smallest boarders I've seen

Radeon VE:
same as R7500

My advise - go with a cheap Radeon :)
My brother and I just build a media player for our living room. It uses geexbox as OS and has RadeonVE. The picture quality is very good and since it isnt actively cooled there is no additional noise :)
