Media speed

I've got a single speed Matshita LF-D310. Is there an issue with using faster speed media in it? I never assumed there was until I came across this warning on a web site when I was looking to buy some media.

Also has anyone tried cd-r media's own brand stuff? I'm a little put off by how cheap they are.

The Pioneer A03/A04 drives had a firmware bug destroying the drive when trying to use 4x media. Pioneer has fixed that firmmare.

The only ones who know if Panasonic drives are also affected are the guys at Panasonic. Ask them :)
