View Full Version : avi audio longer than video

in bsplayer the clip ends and the audio keeps going for another half hour. confirmed the problem with vdubmod saying video stream approx 80 minutes long but audio stream 110 minutes long.

the a/v loses synch linearly and audio sounds significantly lower than natural. so i would like to extract the audio stream, shorten it in time (whence restore higher frequencies), and remux. i guess this is not possible without decoding and reencoding, but i'm having trouble at the first step. when i try to extract the audio stream in vdubmod or nandub only the first 80 mins is saved whether or not i do direct stream copy or save an uncompressed wav. the last half hour for which there is no video frames is just truncated. then tried goldwave but it wouldn't even open the file.

later: if anyone else with the same problem finds this thread, this is how i got it in the end.
1. change frame rate of video in vdubmod by going ctrl+r and choose 'change so video and audio durations match' (don't overwrite original file!)
2. now you can demux the audio stream without it being truncated.
3. used goldwave to open the audio and applied a pitch scale of the appropriate percentage (work this out by the ratio of audio and video durations)
4. recompress and mux the audio with the original video

I'd try BeSweet with avi input mode. You'll need vobinput.dll, get it from DSPguru's homepage. http://dspguru.doom9.net
