Good day all.

I know this has been asked a million times but I spent quite a bit of time searching on the net and here and I cannot find an answer.

I'm trying to join two XViD encoded .avi files together without any luck. The framerate for both video files is identical - 23.970, the audio track is a ~128kbps vbr mp3. When I use nanDub (following Doom's guide for joining DiVX files) I get an error to the extent of audio track not being the same format as the one in the 1st file. I also tried to use AviUtl's append and concatenate options and I end up with a .avi that has audio out of sync by 2-3 seconds. Any suggestions? Thank you kindly.

Use VirtualDubMod

For more help, look in the VirtualDub & VDubMod Forums (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=22).

virtualdubmod does the same thing as nandub, when i try to append a file it says "the audio streams have different data formats".

I always had trouble joining avi files and it drove me crazy! I found this program called AVI Joiner (shareware) and it lets me join my files every time with no problems. http://www.brizsoft.com/avijoin/

When I load up my files and try to join them it says "the selected files have a different format of audio. Can only join without audio."

So I'm essentially back to square one with this.

well i think these messages are abvious:
you cant join two audio streams with different channel number, sample rate...

i suggest you use virtualdubmod to analyse what different audio formats you use and reencode one to match with the other (means quality loss of course)

btw wrong forum, xvid has nothing to do with audio

the strange thing is I dont even have the "audio" menu in vdubmod. and another thing the streams look to be identical according to g-spot and vdub 0x0055 mp3 vbr 128

well, thanks for your help, I'll try to dig deeper into this.

well i figured out my dumb audio menu question but still no luck with joining those files.. i'll try to dump the audio to wav, reencode at cbr and then join the files.

well i repeat myself:
