I want to do some work with AC3.

1) How properly to split AC3 file in to stereo/mono channels without any mixing, don't want to mess with original audio
2) How to properly (without re-encoding or mixing) upmix them back to AC3 file, after doing some job with wavs?

Reason:
I have loud click in AC3, just want to remove it in CoolEdit, leaving every other second of the original audio intact.

May be, there is another way to do that?

Thanks

you could use besweet/besplit etc to cut the file into 3 bits (before click, click, and after click), then take the click part into cooledit, do your thing, and re-encode that with EXACTLY the same settings as the other 2 bits.

then join them all back together.

you can't edit in cooledit without having to re-encode, but the loss isn't so great you'll notice if the piece you change is small.

i don't have a step-by-step guide for you, as i try to avoid fiddly stuff, but i'm sure you can find out how this is done with various FAQs and searches.

Thanks, Mug Funky

I am trying to join 2 avi with AC3 stream. As I realized, this click happens due to joining the AC3 streams in VDub

If I trying to joing AC3 aside from avi with BeSweet, it hanging after the first part.

So, it looks like some joining problem, there is no actual click. I tried to make 6 mono-wavs from this stream with click - no click found in any channel.

The click isn't big problem itself, audio stops playing after the joint point and I have to move a slide bar slightly within the second part in order to make it work.
