playback on comp/standalone problems

It ripped to the hardrive fine, opens in shrink and plays well, but when burned will not playback on the computer or any standalone. It would play on my kids cheap apex dvd player, but after three days the color was taken out of any dvds that were to be played on the player and the picture became unstable. These problems are happening with all disks and not just burned disks. Is there a chance that this could happen to the expensive dvd player in my living room or the dvd drive in my cpu. Used RecordNow to burn dvd.

Sounds like your Apex player needs to be replaced , what type of media are u using? +/- ? manufacturer?
The fact ur backup doesn't play in ur computer dvd-rom suggests very bad media or media that does not work good with ur burner. Dvd-rom readers are very versatile and usually can read and play media that alot of standalone dvd players will not.
I don't think there is any possibilty that your burned back-up has caused the problems in your Apex player, more like a fault with the player.
What writer are u using? Have u successfully backed up movies that have played in ur dvd-rom before? :)

Hi,I'm using memorex dvd+r I wrote the backup with recordnow. This is my first try but my Dvd-rom has always read every thing without a problem it is a sony Dvd rw dw-u12a i think thanks for your help!!

This sure sounds like a junk media problem. When listing important specs, like the make and model of your drive, please give us precise information. Sometimes, close doesn't count. The Sony DW-U10A was the closest model I could find using the "burner" link below.


Check your player's media compatibility (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers) with this link. Check your burner's media compatibility (http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters) using this link. Have you checked Sony's site to see what suggestions they offer on media, or any other helpful information?

Thanks for your advise.I have a sony vaio pcv-rz 32G.Intel Pentium 4 2.60C GHz hyper treading.80 GB hard drive(7200rpm).512 MB.I am now sure my dvd rom is (SONY Dvd RW DW-u12A).I will try the sugestions you advised.Thanks for your help.KILLER SIGHT!!!

Also the disk i have been backing up have been done with recordnow.This came with the computer.It will only let me make a data disc. Could this be part of my problem.THANKS!!!
