video newb needs capture help

Ok what I want to do is capture programs from my Ultimate tv PVR to my computer and then burn to dvd format
I have a gf3 TI video card with s-video in and a sound card with digital optical in and out.
what kind of software do I need to capture video and sound? I would like to keep the AC3/digital sound.
Is dvd workshop any good?

Is there some kind of guide on this forum somewhere? I couldn't find one.

I know i won't get professional dvd quality video but it has to be better than vhs I would think. svcd sux in my oppinion

Look in the guides section on tv capture, its basically the same thing.

sounds more like this belongs in analog capture discussion, except for the digitally capturing ac3 part.

I'm not aware of any analog capture software that captures anything other than analog audio stream, though.
