I got a movie from the web and every 5-7 seconds the video looks jerky in a strange fashion, like if it jumped 10 frames forward, 5 backward, 10 forward, 5 backward and it lasts for a second. It drives me crazy!

I opened the video with virtualdub and it says "improper VBR audio encoding" and it says that if go on and use it the CBR values would be writen in the header and it would introduce skew in the stream. Playing the file in VirtualDub the video is fine but audio is off sync.

The file-information says it is XVID MPEG-4 Codec 23.976 fps
and the sound is 48 hz, Fraunhofer IIS MPEG Layer-3 Codec

Can you help me out? is MPLAYER de-syncing the video to match improper audio stream? If so do you know a program to easily re-sync it all?

thanks.

I get that warning from VirtualDub all the time, and I don't think it means much. My guess is it's some kind of decoding problem...

Cruncher is right (probably an encoding error)...and we don't like to support anything that's been downloaded from the Web. For legal reasons and because it's impossible for us to tell the problem without out knowibng build numbers, settings, etc...
