cannot read ifo files

I ripped some dvd's with dvddecrypter3.1.5. Now I want to make a copy with instantcopy7.0. When I try to open the IFO, the message come: "system cannot read the ifo file" (translatet from german). Same problem with DVDShrink3.0.
What is wrong with my system? (XP SP1)

Welcome to the Forums! :D

I recommend that you rip all your files to your harddrive in File mode. I think you ripped in IFO mode.

Yes, I ripped them in IFO mode and with GordianKnot it works fine. I just tried it in File mode and got no problems with InstantCopy.
Is there no way to copy these dvd's decrypted in IFO mode?

Is there no way to copy these dvd's decrypted in IFO mode? Ah my friend, me thinks you don't really know what goes on in File and IFO Modes. In File Mode, you can select some or preferably all your files to rip. In IFO Mode, you can only rip a certain PGC, which would contain your movie, or even certain cells of that PGC. I'm not going to into details but that's the gist of it.

File Mode and IFO Mode does have it's purposes and that depends on what backup tool you will be using and what format you plan to do with your ripped movie (e.g. DivX, DVD, SVCD). Also, are you doing a movie only or full disk backup? Just remember, different tools and differents methods will require some or all files to be ripped. You'll learn this through experience very quickly.

IFO Mode > GordianKnot
File Mode > InstantCopy
File Mode > DVD Shrink

So I can't just rip and decide later between dvd copie or divx.:(
