dvd2svcd ver 1.2.1 b3 with freeware
CCE SP
scenarist 2.7

I completed movie only backup with d2s following d9's
DVD2DVD-with-DVD2SVCD guide and my log ended like this:

--------------------------------------------------------
- 1/16/2004 10:52:37 AM
- Free on drive C: 37880.25 mb
- Creating DVD-Image using Sonic Scenarist
--------------------------------------------------------
Creating Sonic Scenarist Script file
Executing Sonic Scenarist
Closing program
Image creation finished.

- 1/16/2004 11:35:05 AM
- Free on drive C: 24917.69 mb
- Conversion done!
--------------------------------------------------------

I looked in C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\DVD-Image
but all i got was AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders. I imaged these with imgtool and burned the image with dvddecrypter and the disc was fine. But i would like to know why D2s didnt create and image file and if it is possible to burn the product of D2S, image or not automatically?
Thanks in advance

Yeah, the image (curiously) does not reside in the "DVD-Image" folder. This, as you rightly say, contains the vobs and ifo's.

You do get another file (I believe in the your default movie folder but I could be wrong) called DiscImage.dvd (or similar - I don't currently have any DVD2DVD-created images on my drive to check). The .dvd extension is definitely right. This is your image file.

If I remember correctly you can rename it .iso and burn it with dvddecryptor. As for automated burning, I'm sure that can be done too. Many plugins have been created (d2sburn, burnout - do a search in the advanced forum) but I'm not sure off the top of my head if any yet support DVD output.

If not I'm sure there'll be someone more adept than me in such matters who can help you out with automating that step.

Hi matt,

imgtool Classic is a GUI of mkisofs, which is a CLI application. IIRC, this is the commandline:

mkisofs -dvd-video -V DVDLABEL -o TargetImageFile SourceDir

I never use D2S with Scenarist, but sure in Finalize tab you can execute a simple bat file with this command

Does this mean that you click "DOn't make Images" in the CD Image tab and you can execute a command you define on the Finalize tab? It says, "Run this(per cd image)" and since you are really not making a CD image I was wondering if this command would still execute.

I think jsoto is meaning to make the image with Scenarist, then use the Finalize tab to run a batch file containing the command line for mkisofs.

As I understand it, when jsoto sayd he never uses D2S with Scenarist, he means he therefore hasn't tried this suggestion, only that it should work in principle.

If I've misunderstood I'm sure he'll correct me :)

Yes, Nick has understood what I'm saying..., but seems my indication is not good.

In finalize tab you can run whatever you want including some D2S macros as parameters, but AFAIK you can not select "don't make images", because Scenarist must run to have the VOBs and all the files. And as I read in this forum (I do not have Scenarist installed) Scenarist should create the images by itself, that means, the process can not be stopped before Scenarist creates the images.

Summarizing:
My indication (image creation with Imgtool classic) has no sense if you are authoring with Scenarist. Sorry if I confused you.
You can use a finalize bat to burn the image as Nick says. ImgTool Burn also supports command line, and syntax description is included in the help file.

For your info, I'm using IFOEdit for authoring (PAL DVD's, there are some known issues in NTSC) which works fine to me.

I ran a test to see if the finalize command will execute if the CD Image tab is set to "Don't make Images". It does not run. I ran another test with CD Image set to Sonic Scenarist; the finalize command did not run. I guess I don't know how finalize is implemented since I could not get it ot execute at all.

My problem is Scenarist just quit working on full size movies; it seems work on small clips but just stops about 30% into a large movie. So, I now use Maestro and do the final mux and authoring myself; thus the reason why I set to not make images.

I get that same problem. Scenarist crashes at about 34% on larger movies like clockwork. I first throught it was instability in my overclocked system but I put it to defaults... same problem. Then I tried on my other computer, same problem.

Seems like some kind of incompatibility with Scenarist.

Well, at least I am not alone. I think I will post a new message on this. thx
