Having just made my first attempt at using the "Full DVD Backup guide",
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ra-guide.htm
on the LOTR FOTR, everything looks good, but I have two problems:

1. I ripped the English and forced subs, but forced subs do not display - I can only get them to show if I "disable" on WinDVD - they are shown in this order and listed as follows (in WinDVD):

disable
English
Greek
English

On the original disk, the LAST English is enabled (as is my copy) BUT, nothing shows on the copy unless I tick "disable" - If I follow the guide to disable subs by default, will that also disable forced ones seeing as I need to "disable" it to enable it (if that makes any sence?)

2. The chapter points dont work properly because the time elapsed "jumps" at chapter points - sometimes forward, sometimes back. eg the 1st chapter is at around 6 mins - at the point where chapter 2 would start, the time resets to 0.00.00!! But the movie keeps playing correctly. At other parts in the movie for example, the time goes from 49mins BACK to 47mins - as a consequence, if I drag the slider across from left to right slowly I can see the elapsed time go up AND down!! Any suggestions at this point would be fantastic as I am tearing my hair out.....

The disk is the Lord Of The Ring - FOTR main movie disk Region 4 PAL

Ok, I've managed to fix the subs problem following 2COOL's "Turning Subtitle (On/Off) by Default Guide" - many thanks 2COOL ;)
I still have the "jumping time" problem though, and haven't managed to find anything from searching the forum that sounds similar. Can anyone give me a clue as to which part of the process I may have gone wrong in? Scenarist possibly - what is it that controls the "time elapsed" display? Is it by the chapter points? which incidentally look identical to the original .ifo...

Once again 2COOL's info has fixed my problems :D
For anyone wanting the solution - I used IfoEdit and did the following:

- Replace your new VOBs with your old ones.
- Open IFO in question with IFOedit
- Go topside and go to VOB Extras / Create New IFOs
- With everything checked as is, browse to a empty destination folder. Press OK.
- Keep all streams and press Strip it button.
- When done, replace your old files with these new ones.
- Get VTS Sectors

As I am new to this I have no idea why this worked or even what I did wrong to start with - it is ineresting to note that this ALSO fixed the initial subs problem I had without having to go in and manaully edit any values....
