Hi,
i've an elta 8883 updated with latest firmware!
I'm doing divx od 1,5 gb recorded on DVD-R!
I've heard someone has problems of playback ....
This problem is that after some minutes video stops and turns to the

Someone can tell me something about?

For real?? Thank god I haven't bought one already, as that would render it completely useless for me. Most of my encodes are between 1,7GB and 2,8GB on DVD+R (quality rules). Now that we have a chip that can decode up to 10Mbit of MPEG-4, the firmware guys are to dumb to properly read big AVIs (which would probably just require a few lines of code)... Oh boy.

There are no problems up to 2GB with the elta.
Files >2GB dont work, as with every other player i tried.

I don't understand what the problem is. I know that legacy applications (win 3.11/9x) have that limit, but meanwhile 4GB is no problem as far as I know (and tried). Why don't they make their firmware open-source? It can only get better...

i have had this problem on the xbox first the dvd rom wont read a disc with 2.17gb avi files on it. Then when you manage to get the file on the xbox hd by ftping it across the media players dont play avi files bigger than 2gb.
So as you can imagine this has pissed me off so im gona build a multimedia pc out of an old p4 1.8 and mobo and a rad 9600 then I will be able to play almost anything.

I seriously consider doing the same. There never seems to be an end to what one could possibly want: multiple B-frames, 3-point GMC, subtitles, OGG, AAC, Musepack, ... *sigh*
These barebones with 1,2 GHz C3 CPU are tempting, but I doubt they are powerful enough for mpeg-4? I certainly don't want any noise in the living-room, and silencing a P4 is damn expensive.
It sucks being an early adopter, doesn't it? :D

Thankfully you don't have this problem with an Sigma Xcard!
And if you install JovePlayer as a front end you can view just about any codec in RGB or component video on your TV, using either harware or software decoding....
You can even create xml files to set the aspect ratio of your encodes and create/set chapters points....
And it would also fit great in an HTPC....
Just thought I'd rub it in a bit!
Cheers

I don't see the point, the Xcard is less powerfull than the new mediatek chipset - why would anyone use it?
