New OpenSource based Mpeg 4 Codec

Hi.

I just wanna a mpeg4 codec that are Fast as Nero Digitals Mpeg4 format. The quality should be equal to Nero digital.
I wanna this to be an open source format. Since it best for the developers. IF anyone can help make me this codec i will be thankfull.

Is there anyway to make Xvid codec faster (i mean could someone modify its source to make the encoding faster)
Nero digital is actually a good mpeg4 format but itsnt free and it wont encode from other formats.

If you don't use advanced features in XviD it will encode faster.

I've never tried ND, so i cannot compare xvid directly with it, but if you set h.263 quantizer, motion search precision 1, vhq0, and all other features disabled, i think that should be fast enough. If not, just use MJPEG, it's unbeatable if speed is the primary concern. :D

Perhaps motion search precision=1 is not a good idea. The encode got hideous smearing, it's completely unwatchable, even without qpel.
