This question is bothering me for some time now and after searching the forum lots of times, I finally dare to ask it. :)

In some guides you see the IQP having a value of 5. But in all the guides with ReAuthorist, IQP is having a value of 15.

My question is now what do you people mostly use a value and if the value changes, does it has a big impact on the quality of the rip?
I've read somewhere that it has to do with complexitiy of the scenes but that's it.

Thanx a bunch

It determines how bitrate is allocated within a *frame*, the FAQ sticky in the CCE forum talks about it a little bit.

IMHO 5-15 is way too low for DVD bitrates. Note that in CCE 2.50, IQP is 0-100 whereas starting with CCE 2.66 ("Flat part priority"), it's 0-64. For bitrates around 4000 kbps, I always set it to ~50% of he available range (30 in CCE 2.66), and only at lower bitrates of 3000-3500 kbps I decrease it to about 30-40% of the available range.
If IQP is set too low, you'll note banding in evenly coloured areas and blocking in fade-ins/fade-outs. Even with the high values I'm using, I never noticed any mosquito noise.
