View Full Version : VCD-->DIVX Problem ("File Ended Unexpectedly During Parsing")

I'm following the guide for VCD-->DIVX conversion, and as such have extracted the .dat file from my vcd, loaded the file in vcdgear, and have outputed the file to .mpg using the settings listed in the Doom9 guide for converting vcd to divx.

The problem occurs when I attempt to load the .mpg in VirtualDub for processing; after selecting the file to load, the program begins to process the file but throws the following error message:

Any idea what might be causing the problem? How can I convert my VCDs to DIVX?

Try VirtualDub-MPEG2 (http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable).

Looks like I spoke too soon.

I'm running into the same problem without the error message. Most of my files seem to be ok, but a few do not load completely.

For the files that are problematic, of the 200,000k of the file, only 20,000k will load and no error message is given. The "parsing interleaved MPEG-1 file" dialog displays, but the slider doesn't make it all the way to the right.

Any ideas as to what I need to do in order to get these vcd files converted to .avi?

Hmm... What happens if you skip VCDGear and open the .dat files directly? Last time I checked, VirtualDub-MPEG2 works OK with raw VCD .dat files.
