Greetings,
I’m relatively new to creating DTS audio cd’s using Eye Of Horus excellent Ambisonics guide. I’ve created several cd’s, which came out great. Now I’m on to a new project, which is converting several 2 channel DVD movies to DTS. I’m basically looking for some tips and tricks because I came up with a few problems on my first attempt.
I rip the audio (48khz 192bps) from the cd using dvd2avi and had to run it through besweet to turn it into a WAV so the audio player in budile would recognize it. I then ran it through budile as outlined in EOH’s guide and the only modifications was setting budile to 48khz in preferences and adding a lowpass filter for the subwoofer channel.
I then ran it through besweet and converted it to 6 separate wav files.
I found that if I used -ota( -g max -fs 48000 ) I would get 0 byte wav files. Unfortunately I’m writing this from work so I can’t supply the log files but noticed that the process would determine the overall track gain of 9.40db then the window would close just before the transcode process.
If I used -ota( -fs 48000 ) eliminating the normalization (-gmax) I would get 6 wav files that were over modulated a bit. When I put them in surcode-dvd the start and end times would not match the actual length of the move e.g. movie is 1:31:44 but surcode-dvd shows it as 6:40:34. When playing the wav files in surcode they play fine (correct pitch). Now the over-modulation I’m sure I can correct within ambisonic but any tips, tricks or suggestions on these problems would be greatly appreciated.
A few notes:
