Can someone direct me in the direction to backup my movie with menu but no extras. The reason I asked is because my movie has multi audio stream and I want to be able to select the stream through the menu but I don't need the other stuff from the dvd. I know to backup movie only but with menu is a new ball game to me.
Thanks

use dvdshrink, u can find it in the site/downloads section and get rid of everything u want. A detailed guide can be found in the guides section as well.

OK, I'm stuck now. I've been reading the how to for ifoedit and dvdshrink, here is my problem, my movie contain 3 menu lang. which i only need is the english one, 4 audio stream which one of them I don't want, 9 VTS file in all which vts_01 is movie and vts_02 thru vts_09 is trailer which I don't need.
Ok, I load up ifoedit and bring up the vts_01_0.ifo and strip 2 lang. and leaving english and save to different folder.
Load up VIDEO_TS.IFO and strip vobid which is the warning page and save to the same folder of the new vts_01_0.ifo file.
Now I copy and paste the new ifo and bup file I just created with ifoedit to the org. director of the whole movie replace the video_ts.ifo and the vts_01_0.ifo along with the .bup that ifoedit created.
Ok, I load up the new vts_01_0.ifo and looked at it and been change now with only one english menu, which I know is good. Now I want to strip audio stream for the vob file. So I extra Vob and strip all unwanted audio and same to a new folder. After ifoedit has finish it gave me all the files I need to have a complete menu with movie. But when loading the movie in dvdshrink it gave me error vts_02_0.vob is incorrect or something like that.
So what am I doing wrong?

just in case, use the 'Get VTS Sectors' function of ifoedit prior of loading the project to dvdshrink.
Is the file in question presenton the final project or just missing. In either case we have to know the exact error

Loaded the final project to dvdshrink after all the ifoedit process was done is when I got the error. It looks like ifoedit didn't do a good job of remapping the vob or I might have forgoten something in between?

Do you just want the menu so you can select different audio?
If so can't you do away with the menu and just use the audio select button on the remote control of the player?

ifoedit demands carefull planned steps in order to perform its tasks. remember that we r dealing with sensitive and lots of pointers in these files. Perhaps u haven't corrected the pointers in a step, that's why they r wrong.
When I am using ifoedit for a strip, which btw I am not often, I am performing a 'Get VTS Sectors' in every step of the way, so I can be sure that the pointers r all OK.
Anyway, if u r frustated of the situation, u can use dvdshrink for all of the above. Just untick the menus and streams u don't want and all would be just fine.

The guide didn't tell me to do that operation, and so how do you use the vts sector? When do I use the vts sector of ifoedit? I really would like to finish the project I've been working on for the past two days. I do read and follow instruction, but after I finish the guide my movie didn't come out right and I don't know why. I have followed the guide from step 1 to finish and I know I did it as the guide walk me thru but no go for me.

Ok, Let start all over again.
Movie So Close
Video_ts.Vob= 5 VOBID
1-Tri Star Logo
2-warning
3-warning
4-warning
5-warning
Total of vts=9
VTS_01_0.ifo=3 menu Lang. English, French, and Chinese
VTS_01_0.VOB to VTS_01_6.VOB = Movie, 4 audio stream Chinese, Chinese,English, and French. 6 Subtitle
Vts 2 to vts 9 are preview to other new releases
Ok, My Planning for backup.
1. Keep menu
2. Keep Audio Stream for 2 chinese and english
3. Keep only the english subtitle
4. Remove warning screen from movie
5. Remove previews for other movies
Final product should be movie with menu, 3 audio stream, 1 english subtitle, no warning screen, and no movie previews.
Step 1: strip menu Lang. Chinese and French from VTS_01_0.ifo with ifoedit and same to new folder.
Step 2: strip warning screen which is VOBID 2,3,4,5 from video_ts.ifo and same to same folder of the new vts_01_0.ifo.
Step 3: copy the new files I created with ifoedit to the folder that contain the whole movie. so now I have a complete movie with the new files created with ifoedit.
Step 4:strip audio and subtitles from vts_01_0.vob. Loadup the new vts_01_0.ifo and hit the extra vob button. remove all audio and subtitles not needed and hit strip it. It was save to a new folder which it made a full movie with all vob, ifo, and bup.
Step 5: loadup the new completed movie made from ifoedit to dvdshrink to rencode movie to fit on one dvd-r and bam error.
that how it went for me, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Step 3: copy the new files I created with ifoedit to the folder that contain the whole movie. so now I have a complete movie with the new files created with ifoedit.
I would recommend a 'Get VTS Sectors' after this step. If u have made a mistake, ifoedit will ask u to correct the pointers. Hit 'correct' and everything should be ready for stripping.

@friendtoall
Ok...I'll step in and tell you what I would do. Thanks for laying out your game plan and a description of what's in your files.
Let's start with your VIDEO_TS.IFO and work on your warnings.
4. Remove warning screen from movie
Open up VIDEO_TS.IFO with IfoEdit. Go to VMG Overview / Language Menu Unit.
Since you know which menus contain what, select each one separately and click on "Delete Playback" button. This will prevent your clip in question from displaying. When done, save your IFO and BUP. Play to test if you want.
Next is your previews.
5. Remove previews for other movies
Since you mentioned that VTS_02 - VTS_09 are previews, use these guides where needed. They will be easy to do when you get more proficient.
How To Blank Out a TitleSet with a Single Program Chain (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60533)
How To Completely Blank Out a Multi-PGC TitleSet (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=60788)
This will take care of those pesky trailers. They should be all blanked out and leaving more room for better quality for your movie. Play to test.
Now for your other wishes.
1. Keep menu
2. Keep Audio Stream for 2 chinese and english
3. Keep only the english subtitle
Use DVD Shrink 3.1.2 in full disk mode. In Edit / Perferences... / Output files tab, check "Logical remapping of enabled streams.
Set Unreferenced materials to still pictures.
Unselect your audios and subtitles in question.
click on Backup icon and start DVD Shrink processing.
This common procedure should work for you and you will still keep a valid DVD structure. If you want to know more about my other guides, just click on the :eek: in my signature block. ;)
If you want to read up on DVD Shrink guides, go here (http://www.dvdshrink.info/).
If you want to clean up your unused menu buttons, the registered version of MenuEdit works great. You can find at http://menuedit.dimad.net

Open up any VTS_*_0.IFO in IfoEdit and look in it's VTS Overview. Look for instances of PGC_#s. If you see PGC_2 then, of course, it's not a single PGC titleset. ;)
I'm still a newbie and willing to learn. A good newbie will exhaust all his/hers resources with thorough searching before asking a question. There are tons of information here at Doom9 and also outside of it too. Let Google be your friend. ;) If possible, there are DVD books out there going to fine details on the breakdowns of a DVD and terminologies.

This time I didn't get an error on dvdshrink and everything went smooth. My new back works but for some reason my navg. looks off.
the play movie button works but all the rest of the button don't work. I know that I was keeping the same dvd stucture just removing a few things only. When I did the blank screen to removie the previews I saw that ifoedit created a new video_ts.ifo but I didn't copy it over to the new final product and so is it that cause my final project not to work? I tell all you guys out there I have learn alot in the past few days.

2COOL you are the man! You really know your stuff on dvd structure and glad to have your help. I will again redo my project and include all things this time. The reason why I didn't include the files was that I was working on the extras which was the vts 2 to 9 and I didn't do anything to video_ts.ifo.

One quick question, how come ifoedit will not let deselect all vodid in video_ts.ifo? As I discrabed earlier that ID1 is logo and ID2 to 5 is warning. I wanted to go ahead and delete all warning and logo from the org. movie.

IMO, it is not a good thing to delete all your VOB Ids as that you will most likely have some kind of error due to change in DVD structure. Your logo and warnings don't take that much space it's better to do a "Delete Playback" on them in your VMG Overview / Language Menu Unit. Remember to save when done. When you process through DVD Shrink, your logo and warnings will place in your "Unreferenced Materials" folder. Just convert everything in there to "Still Pictures" and also deselect the audio. This is what I would do. ;)
I mentioned in my first post to do this but it seems you are deviating from my proposed gameplan. It's a common working backup method. I believe this quote from The Matrix is appropriate here. ;)
“You take the BLUE pill, the story ends...you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the RED pill, you stay in Wonderland and I'll show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.”

If you really must get strip out all your VOBids, perform this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50245) on all your PGC-Menus in VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMGM_PGCI_UT. Use it on only the ones that have more than zero for Number of Programs. ;) Do a test play and all your clips in your VIDEO_TS.IFO should be bypassed. If successfull, you can go ahead and strip all of your VOBids through Menu Extras. Doing this way, you won't get no illegal navigation or missing file error. ;)

2COOL, what will you suggest I do for the Tomb Raider 2 Movie? I've backup 4 of my movies using your direction, which works very well. But this Tomb Raider is a little different. The first play of the movie when you put in the dvd a menu shows up asking you to select main menu or special feature. I look at VIDEO_TS.VOB in vobextractor and saw nothing but just warning:
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VOBID1=NOTHING
VOBID2=WARNING
VOBID3=WARNING
VOBID4=WARNING
VOBID5=NOTHING
VOBID6=NOTHING
VOBID7=NOTHING
The menu that I've discrabe is in VTS_02_1.vob and so I used your black vob to redo the dvd to bypass the selection screen which didn't have any problem but when doing a play back that stupid menu is still there. What am I getting myself into? Enlite me my Brother 2COOL.

Now since we redid the ifo to vts 2, can we go ahead and do the black vts to get rid of the side show or will it cause damage to dvd structure?

Man, did this one have everything we have talked about editing. This Tomb Raider 2 has a combo of Paramount menu removel, Single PGC blank vob editing, and Multi PGC bland vob editing. At the end, everything works out just perfectly. But one thing is left that I don't understand is after all this blank vob editing I did to the movie dvdshrink still picked up the Paramount menu slide show and I can find it anywhere in the dvd or does lies within VTS_6 where main movie is?

I found it! It is in VTS_02_0.vob which has 2 VOBID. What should I do to remove this. If I use IFOEdit to stip id then I will still have to keep one id and that won't do the job. Should I do the same as we did for all the blank cell and strip it with IFOEdit?
