Yeah, I know, this has been asked zillions times before. Yes, I know, zillions of answers were given.. I tried em all.. Nothing works :(
I have this file, which I want to convert to avi. But when opening it in VirtualDub it gives me packet sync error. It plays fine in media players though. I tried all the tricks, starting with VCDGear, then TMPGEnc MPEG Tools, eeeeeeeeverything - and nothing saves it. At best only part of it is saved.
What can I do :(

Did you try ProjectX (http://www.lucike.info/page_projectx_compiler_e.htm) or vcdcut? ProjectX is praised a lot when dealing with broken streams, I didn't use it so far.
For me, VCDCut has demuxed streams no other program would touch ...
Good luck.

Did you use GSpot to see if you have all needed codecs?

have you tried converting your mpeg using graphedit?
if it plays fine in mediaplayer then it would work with graphedit

yes that was my final solution ;) i figured, if dshow can play it, there must be a way to dump everything.. and so it worked :)
