Compare two different encodings

I’m using WMPC 6.4.7.1 when I want to compare two different encodings of the same movie sense you are able to open a new player for each movie and can have them running side by side or look at them frame by frame, but the second opened movie/player always seems to be lack in colour.
Is there away around this or would you suggest another way to compare encodings.
My codec’s are: XviD-24062003-1 and ffdshow-20030523.exe
Hardware: Intel P4 2.0GHz, 768MB RDRAM, GeForce3 64MB

Try comparing with two instances of VirtualDub Mod.

Whenever I display my Xvid’s in VdubMod 1.5.4.1
I get this: WARNING: NOTHING TO OUTPUT BFRAME DECODER LAG
with a poor picture display. To avoid this I have to uninstall Xvid and let ffdshow
do the work (not so found of doing this every time) Is there away around this??

Another thing is that I haven’t found out how to display the movie
In full screen in VdubMod.

Try VirtualDub (you can resize window)

For the "warning" issue just forward one frame (this shows if you encoded movie with "packed bitstream" unchecked in xvic).

[EDIT] Mistake, you can do it also in VDubMod just right-click on video preview (but again in Vdub right-click menu is better - see for yourself).
