edit vob files? i call it fair use.. :)

anyone have any idea how to go about this? i consider it fair use. i want to take my copy (that i bought) of e.t. and "bleep" out all the language i really don't want my kids to hear. i can bring the vob into vegas video with no problem...er.. that is except it doesn't recognize the audio. so.. i can use something like dvd2avi to extract the audio, but then the syncing problems slowly creep in when i bring the audio back into vegas with the video. so.. is there an app out there yet that allows direct editing to vobs by any chance? or... are there any good tips on doing this?

No easy way .... you'd have to demux the video / audio, demux the AC3 and rebuild the whole show in a NLE App. and the re-author !

from a technical point it might be possible to just demux the AC3, convert it to WAV, edit it, encode back to AC3 (quality loss included), then add the ream via vobutil.. then do a get vts sectors and I think you should be fine, but I've never actually done that. You might find some info about adding audio and subtitle streams to existing DVDs in the IFO / VOB editors forum.

I agree. Parents have the right and responsibility to determine what is proper for their children to hear and see. Governments, on the other hand, do not have that right.

ok, it's OT but: who decides for the children if the parents can't or won't ??

I'm 100% against censorship but as a teacher I know that you shouldn't trust in parents either.
