I just read the guide relating to the new DVDShrink version. It can use (my) 5.x version of Nero. So far, so good. Using AnyDVD and Nero - Does it not make 1:1 copies of movies that fit on the target disk without recompression?

If it's a single layer yes. DVDDecrypter can do the same thing rip to .iso and burn that .iso. Not sure how this is related to dvdshrink though. If it's dual layer (most are) you can sometimes use no compression doing main movie only other times it'll need some compression. Or you can do 1:1 (Full Disk) with compression.
