I'm trying to back up a DVD-9, retaining menus and MOST of the extras--I'd like to remove ALL trailers, i.e., "coming soon to DVD.."

There are 5 separate VOB's (each ~75MB), each with its own title-set/IFO.. Questions:

1. Can I simply remove each entire VOB from the original DVD structure and keep the original IFO in tact??

2. If so, after I remove all the VOB's from the original structure, do I just do "Get VTS Sectors" in IFOedit?

After I do this, I intend to re-encode the movie using the IFOedit/CCE method but am trying to free up as much space as possible before doing so..

Thanks.

1. No. Some players require at least zero sized files. But you can't simple delete whole content - this will require also that this files get never accessed during dvd navigation. It is possible but takes time playing with IfoEdit.

Another (way too easier) option is to replace each cell you don't want to see with cell containng few blank frames. MenuEdit does it (take a look at this faq: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?threadid=57186 question IV), DVDStripper does (never had or used it though), may be some other tools can do it as well.

Thanks for your help. And yes, I see what you mean.. I tested by simply removing the subject VOB's entirely from the structure.. the final result, however, yielded problems IF attempting to view the trailers (that were removed). Otherwise, my Sony NS700P played the backed-up DVD-R fine.

Also, regarding the # of cells.. If original trailer VOB had more than 1 cell, it is OK to replace with just one blank VOB with only one blank cell, correct?

Is there a preferred method of doing this or a more appropriate method, i.e., MenuEdit vs. IFOedit??
