Just wondering :)

Only time will tell. There is no confirmed support from any manufacturer, neither in existing devices nor in upcoming ones. I'd consider RV9 rather unlikely because Real has never tried to court hardware manufacturers (unlike DXn, Ahead (both MPEG-4) and Microsoft)

Just wondering :) If you are desperate to watch these encodes on a TV you can do it with a Sigma Xcard running with JovePlayer as a front end GUI.
You will need a PC with a proccessor over 1500MHz!
The Xcard's principal function is to play Mpeg1, Mpeg2 and Mpeg4 (AVI and MP4) encoded files in hardware.
However, when JovePlayer is installed as a front end GUI, the Xcard can then play WindowsMedia, RealMedia, VP6, Ogg and Matroska encodes etc in software and feed the signal/image to your TV!
Great fun, Cheers

Any GFX card with a TV-out will do actually ;) Since TV out is virtually free, even if you get a remote you'll still have some money left as compared to getting the Xcard

I am actually pretty pissed about the behaviour of those hardware companies having showed interest in supporting matroska so far. It appears to me that this was mainly done to influence the matroska fans to buy their current units, hoping for future matroska support. They should have known these decoders are much too weak with respect to processing power to play MKV files, at least for the last three of the most used encoding profiles in MKV, namely
DivX/XviD video ( max. 720 * 576 ) + MP3 Stereo audio
DivX/XviD video ( max. 720 * 576 ) + AC3 2.0 oder 5.1 audio
DivX/XviD video ( max. 720 * 576 ) + DTS audio
DivX/XviD video ( max. 720 * 576 ) + Vorbis Stereo audio
DivX/XviD video ( max. 720 * 576 ) + AAC LC Stereo
DivX/XviD video ( max. 720 * 432 ) + AAC SBR ( Nero6 HE-AAC ) 5.1 Dolby Digital
There has been a new attempt from the Xsoro people recently, while creating a wish list of new features that they would like to see implemented in the ESS chipset, and that they wanted to send to China. I sent them a long email, telling them to check if their decoder is stronger than current SIGMA chips, so maybe they could play Vorbis + XviD from MKV or even AAC + XviD from MKV. Since i sent this email about 2 weeks ago, no reply, comment or any other messages also ...... i try to be patient, but i personally believe we will see matroska support in hardware devices only if we make the firmware ourselves ;) ....
About RV9, i once tried to make contact betwenn one company and Real Networks ( namely Karl :D ). They seemed to be interested, and even discussed with Karl about the usability of the RV9 decoder sources for their purposes, but i dont think there has been any progress there, of any kind. It appears to me they first have to clear their sourcecode from subtitles sources that had been written and released under GPL, at a time when there wasnt even a single MPEG4 playback unit on the market, leave alone one that could play subs with DivX movies ;) .....
