9:30 clip shrunk to 29 seconds

using G-Knot 0.28.7 i was playing around and figuring everything out. Using an about 9 minute clip i at first encoded it with the compressibility test off, and my end avi file was bigger than the original VOB ripped from a DVD. then with the compression on, i ended out with the whole clip sped up to fit in 29 seconds. the audio was the correct speed, but only the first 29 seconds was there. please help out. and i tried DivX 5, 3.1 and XviD and it did the same thing.

Are you sure it was the first 29 seconds of the 9 minute clip, or was it 29 seconds from all different parts of the 9 minute clip? Did you play that 29 second file? Anyway, it sounds as if you encoded the compression test. Have you used Doom9's guides to help you get started? Here, take your pick:

sorry i wasn't specific, the video is 29 seconds from all over the clip, the audio is just the first 29 seconds. and i don't think i encoded the compressibility test, but i guess it's possible. i did try the guides and follow those directions so i doubt i did encode it.

Hi-

Look right near the bottom of the .avs, and you should see:

# COMPRESSIBILITY CHECK
# !!!!Snip Size now has to be 14 for use in GKnot!
SelectRangeEvery(280,14)

With No "#" in front of the SelectRangeEvery(280,14) line. That means you encoded 14 of every 280 frames (or 5% of the entire clip).

Just delete that line, or put a "#" back in front of it, and you should then be ready to encode the entire clip.
