I was just trying out the new dvd shrink 3.1 on 28 days later and noticed that shrink could not do a 1:1 copy of the movie since the max compression level was to high, event though everything was at 50% the output was too big. The result of the recode was a dvd around 5 gbytes, which could not be copied to a normal disc.
Anyone else had this problem?

I copied 28 days later with no problems....but I may have omitted some audio tracks I didn't want or still framed some of the other features to make sure it would fit. I can't remember what exactly I did, but I know I have a good working copy of 28 Days Later.

if you want you can just run DVD Shrink twice on it. Don't know how the quality will be but it's worth a try

The program was unable to do a copy without removing anything. Seems kind of odd that you have to do a double recoding when everything necessary really is to offer a higher compression rate (except for still pictures). Or is there some reason this is not possible?

Read the faq about the transcoding tecnique to understand why transcoders can not go below a certain point.
If you want to compress more, use an encoder, like CCE, or TMPGEnc:-)
