Hello,

Just been learning about subs in *.srt format.

I got them working along with my *.rmvb ok by changing the directshow to VMR7/9 renderless.

The only thing I have noiced is that by showing the subs, it kills my frame rate.

Is there a way to stop the performance hit?

Here's my spec: -

P3 tualatin 1.1 @ 135 FSB (1.5GHz)
512mb RAM
WindowsXP
Radeon 7200 DDR
WD800JB 80GB HD

Thanks

It's your gfx card. It handles VMR7/9 badly. That's why you get huge performance drop then you enable VMR modes.

If the vmr renderless mode causes a slowdown itself without loading any subtitles then it is possible that the hardware yuv to rgb conversion is missing. If only the subtitles make it slow then try to lower the texture resolution to 512x384 or even less. And remember to check if antialiasing is not on anywhere :)

Hi there Gabest,

I just tried what you suggested and the subs themselves are not making any difference the performance hit.

I get about 22fps for the 25fps source with them on and off.

Can you help me get around this?

Thanks
