Would someone point me to the actual documents, if any, which are related to the Cable in the Classroom programs?
IIRC, this was not something done by choice, it was a federal requirement for cable companies if they wanted to have schools as customers. There was a minimum number of hours of commercial-free educational programming required each month. Cable/satellite channels like A&E have one-hour blocks, M-F, with a precursor announcement that the show may be "taped" and retained for a set period of time after which it is supposed to be destroyed.
I'm interested in the specific wording of any governing documents for Cable in the Classroom with special emphasis on "taping" as the recording method.
Tape as a recording medium is probably just about dead. Realistically, standalone DVD recorders are about the same price as a decent VCR of just a few years ago. Recordable DVD discs are about the same price as a videotape.
So...what happens when VCRs are no longer sold on the consumer market, say, ina year or so?
