First step, first problem...

I know, I should feel ashame because this is surely a newbie question...when I press the disc button, I got the following message: "The DVD2AVI file does not exist!" What and where am I doing something wrong? help!!:angry: :confused: I truly thank you in advance for your kind help!!

Hello and a very warm welcome to the forum.

Don't be sorry, ashamed, angry with youself, whatever. Chill out, being a newb is nothing to be ashamed of. We all start somewhere and we all need pointing in the right direction. :)

Hopefully this should be a fairly easy one to fix though. It is, as you say, a newbie question.

Making a backup needs various pieces of software to rip, separate into audio and video files, re-encode the audio, re-encode the video, mix them back together and author the backup discs. All DVD2SVCD essentially does is automate that process, launching and remote-controlling each piece of software in turn. So when one stage finishes the next one automatically starts.

In order to do this it needs to know the location of each piece of software it will use. With the exception of the video encoders (CinemaCraft, Canopus or TMPGEnc) and Sonic Scenarist (only needed if you do DVDR backups), each piece of software has its own folder within the DVD2SVCD folder.

What you need to do is launch the software and go through each tab in turn, starting with the DVD2AVI tab and for each piece of software shown in blue, ensure the path is correct. If not, click the browse button at the end of the box nest to the program title and find it.

Once you've got it all configured for each piece of software try your conversion again. It should then work.

If all else fails, deinstall and reinstall the DVD2SVCD bundle as that may well fix it too.

Thanks to your answer I could solve my "newbie" problem and I could launch DVD2SVCD. Everything was going quite well when I got the following message "Can't load P3Package.dll" just before TMPGEnc should start his part in DVD2SVCD. I must tell you that I chose the option DVD to DVD and not to SVCD. Once more a "newbie" wrong move?

Him while im not sure how to solve the tmpg problem other than maybe installing the newest version, if you're creating SVCD's (and you SHOULD choose DVD to SVCD in the misc tab for that to work well) you might want to try CCE for better results as described here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50287)

The p3package.dll is actually part of TMPGEnc, not the DVD2SVCD bundle. I would try uninstalling then reinstalling TMPGEnc.

I have never seen this problem before so it is a bit of a guess. I even tried the dll name as a search term in the TMPG forum but there were no results. This sounds like a unique problem on your machine. I would think a reinstall of TMPG would sort it.
