My DD0201 (Optorite) which I JUST got for christmas...is it going to be obsolete due to the new DVD9Rs?
I mean I don't wanna have to waste more money on another DVD burner just for Dual Layer capabilties!

in the PC world, everything is obsolete within <= 3 months of the date of purchase so don't worry. There'll be plenty of regular DVD-Rs and DVD+Rs for a long time to come. It's like you have your 640MB and 700MB. For a really long time the latter was rather rare and considerably more expensive. It took several years for the 700MB CDs to become the standard.

Does anyone have any idea how much the DVDR9 discs are going to cost? I am personally assuming the first few will be around 10 bucks each if not 15 or 20? maybe coming down to around 5 by XMas next year. But I am just taking a stab in the dark I really have no idea. Any ideas or knowledge?

We're all just guessing. $10 sounds right to me.

Agreed, sure you migth not be able to record to dual layer discs but I wouldn't expect them to be affordable for at least 12 months so you current drive should get plenty of use till then.

Plus DVD5-R discs will become maybe slighty more cheaper.
Which is a good thing for my little A06 :)
