Brett's VCDXBuild Reparser for DVD2SVCD v2.0b
---------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION:
BrettsReparser creates a new custom XML file for DVD2SVCD
which will be sent to VCDXBuild.
FEATURES:
- You can include any extra files you want on your VCD/SVCD.
- You can create chapters for an AVI2SVCD project without
having to stop in the middle of the process. Simply find
the frames that you want to use as chapter points (in
VDub or whatever) and list these in the reparser.ini file.
- You can make a normal SVCD in DVD2SVCD and then choose to
author it as a VCD it VCDXbuild. This fixes aspect ratio
problems on newer Pioneer players, and may work as an
alternative to the header trick in other players.
INSTALLATION:
1) Put the files in your DVD2SVCD\BrettsReparser\ directory.
2) Open the reparser.ini file and make sure you have the
correct paths for outputdir, imagedir and vcdxbuild.
3) In the CD Image tab in DVD2AVI, select VCDXBuild and
point it to reparser.exe.

:thanks:
Since dacaw left there seems not to be a way of doing this. I guess this may be of use to many users!

I really don't know how many players there are that this would help. I know it makes CVD's play right on my Pioneer, while still giving me an MPEG that I can also drop right into TMPGEnc DVD Author.
There are probably a lot of people that would find it useful just to customize the XML on a regular SVCD, though. You can make a 100% normal SVCD and then include a few extra logs on the disc or whatever. For example, if you're making CVD's that you may later put on DVD's, it's nice to have the original chapter files.

It dont seem to want to create the bin cue files and here are the log files, so if you could help point to where I went wrong that would be great.

not

So you just need to edit your reparser.ini and make sure your outputdir and imagedir end in a \

Well I added the trailing \ to the needed lins and it now creates the xml file but does not create the bin cue files although it says it does.

Looking for vcdxbuild...
EXECUTING:
G:\SVCD\DVD2SVCD\VCDImager\vcdxbuild.exe --verbose --cue-file="G:\SVCD\CD_IMAGE\charlie_brown_vol3.cue" --bin-file="G:\SVCD\CD_IMAGE\charlie_brown_vol3.bin" "G:\SVCD\DVD2SVCD\Movie\VCDXBuild_Script_1_reparsed.xml"

Look at the very bottom of the log:
G:\SVCD\DVD2SVCD\VCDImager\vcdxbuild.exe --verbose
--cue-file="G:\SVCD\CD_IMAGE\charlie_brown_vol3.cue"
--bin-file="G:\SVCD\CD_IMAGE\charlie_brown_vol3.bin"
"G:\SVCD\DVD2SVCD\Movie\VCDXBuild_Script_1_reparsed.xml"
At this point, the reparser has finished successfully. It made the new XML. It found vcdxbuild.exe, and it tried to execute it. If it's not making images, you can just go to the command prompt and run reparser.exe, and you'll be able to see what vcdxbuild is doing.
Obvious problems could be the files that the custom header is trying to include on the VCD. For example:
<file src="G:\SVCD\DVD2SVCD\Movie\D2SRoBa_log.txt">
<name>D2SROBA.TXT</name>
</file>
If you're not using D2SRoBa, then vcdxbuild is going to fail because it can't find the file.

What I found is that VXCBuilder was looking for these files that were in the cd_image dir so I made zero sized files and in the \movie dir and it then completed the proces.

If you don't want to include the file on the disc, just remove it from the header.xml.txt file. Part of the reason I made the program was to be able to customize what was put on the disc.

So how does the xml file breakdown for editing ?

Version 2.0 is up.
There's no more header file to deal with.
You can include whatever files you want and even make chapters in AVI2SVCD projects by editing the reparser.ini file.
