Oversized Bin Images

Dear Gurus,

Firstly thank you for developing this software :)

Ok here is the question: Is anybody else getting bin files that are too large to burn?

I have had the problem twice both using different source files.

I have included the log files and loads of info below.

Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong?

How big was the BIN file?

How are you burning? Did you try enabling overburning in Nero?

Even when it's 100% on (like your log says), D2SRoBa seems to make SVCD's that are more like 806 MB when it's supposed to be 800 MB. Also, many 80 min CDR's are a tiny bit under 80 min, and will only fit about 805 MB in mode2.

I'll bet the best solution to your problem would just be lowering your CD size in D2SRoBa to about 797 MB. Try burning it in DVD Decrypter. I'll tell you something like:

And then it's obvious that your image is simply 2MB too big. I think most media stops right before 80 min for compatibility, and you have to overburn it to get a few more megs.

Doing the math on your log, you had 807.91 MB less space after the image was built. Just turn your disc size down to 797 MB and everything will be fine.

Im using Nero and have enabled overburn.
I tried to burn CD! but Nero spat out the blank media saying it wasnt big enough.

Seems that you started D2Sroba and DVD2SVCD with 800 media size, but then it is weird, because the bbMPEG phase (after a restart) considers 805-MB (and cut point 800). Did you edit the project file or something before restarting?

The math DVD2SVCD seems to be fine, the files should fit as told by brett, but you might have to revert to 800 media size to have DVD2SVCD split and mux correctly.

I know it sounds odd, but internal DVD2SVCD calculations usually deliver all images (except the last) 5-MB bigger that media size provided, and the last image a little shorter.

This is OK anyway because even if the image file is 805-MB long it does not mean it will occupy 805-MB on CD. You can tell the real image size by looking at the VCDXbuild log, where it says "Image created" and it lists the minutes and seconds actually used.

Hope this solves your problem.

I'll check the VCDXbuild log tonight and post the details tomorrow.

I have to adt to being quite a newbie to encoding/transcoding/mastering

This has happened to me on occasion. Seems to be caused by particular movies for some reason. Anyway to stop it I went to the DVD2SVCD\Tylo directory and edited the D2SRoba.ini file; just change the first line about cdsize so it equals 795 instead of 800. I also made the conditional sizing pass in D2Sroba a bit stricter by making it Limit % 1 <> 1. I haven't had a problem since
