View Full Version : help with surcode....
stupid newbie

k, Im trying to get a 5.1 ac3 for a dvd. I get the 6 mono files put them into surcode and let it encode, but everytime I do this, the result file is always staticy/static (is that a word?) I play the source and it sounds fine but the problem is only the destination file. Is there something I need to do with the file to get it to sound normal?
Thanks in advance...

What Surcode do you have? What is the process you're using. If you're using Surcode dts you will NOT get an ac3 file out of it, you will get a dts file.

either it's what Umma said, or it's because surcode thinks you're feeding it little endian waves instead of big endian (the bit order is swapped large to small or small to large, producing near gibberish). there may be a byte-swap option in surcode somewhere (i'm not sure - i can't afford it myself) which could help you.
but if you're encoding DTS files... i doubt that's the prob because even "stupid newbie" surely isn't THAT stupid :):)
