I've backed up a lot of my movies recently. When the disc is DVD-5, I ripn the whole thing in back-up mode in SmartRipper, and then burn the files in Nero 6, in DVD-Video Mode.

When I play back the burnt disc back on my computer, I can't skip chapter, fast-forward, or go to a scene throgh the scene selction menu, because the DVD will stop.

However, it plays perfectly on my standalone player.

Does anyone know what causes this?

Thanks.

If it's a DVD-5 back I'd recomend using dvddecrypter to read and write is ISO mode.

What's the difference between using DVDDecrypter and Nero to burn it?

DVD Decrypter produces more reliable a playable disc. I donīt know why but (in my opinion, of course) Nero isnīt the right choice for DVD burning.

Strange thing is flawless playback on your standalone. What OS do you use on your computer? Standalones use UDF and PCs use ISO/9660 filesystem - here could be the reason for faulty playback .

I use WinXP.

W2K an XP are able to read UDF. So even disc burnt in UDF mode only they should be able to read corectly.

So as gooki suggested try to rip your disc with DVD Decrypter in ISO mode and burn it (with the same aplication) on RW.
