So I recently backed up Old School, and I wanted just the Dolby Dig English Track, and the menus & the movie.
When I Clicked ReAuthor in DVDShrink, added just the menus, audio & picture, and burned, it worked -- short of.
Movie worked in my standalone & in PowerDVD, but all the menus got added as the end titles, and played at the end of the movie. They didn't work as menus.
What did I do wrong?
Thanks,
Blakkstarr

When you re-author in DVD Shrink, you lose your menus. You can drag the menus across but they will be converted to video clips only with no buttons or highlights. This is common knowledge for DVD Shrink.

"...and played at the end of the movie"
...because you probably dragged them to the reauthor window after you dragged the movie title.
They still wouldn't have been functional though. ;)

Ok, thanks for the replies...
2nd question:
What can I use that will let me backup working menus? I've read plenty of posts that refer to Scenarist, or Maestro(?), but they seem to be horribly expensive "pro" softies.
Is this possible with the free & shareware apps out there?
Thanks again,

You can use DVDShrink to do this -- choose your audio tracks and compression ratios. Of course, you'll also end up with extras too. Then Backup, rather than Reauthor first.
Alternatively, the guides available on http://www.doom9.org/ will help show you how to do what you want.

You could also use DVDStripper to remove those extras as well and then like mosgeo said use backup in DVDShrink.

Simply choose "Still Picture" for the Extras, I know it always keep some space but it's better than nothing and easy to use.
