According to page 19 of http://www.atsc.org/standards/a_52a.pdf, the LFE channel in an AC3 stream is supposed to be reproduced with a +10db gain. My question is, if I transcode a 5.1 AC3 to 6 channel AAC using BeSweet/azid.dll/bsn.dll, and then play back the AAC using CoreAAC, will this +10db gain occur somewhere in this chain, and if so where?

If the +10db gain does not occur by default, would it be a good idea to do it manually (using a BeSweet command line switch) during the transcoding step?

If you transcode a 5.1 AC3 to 6 channel AAC, the LFE level should be the same. CoreAAC should play the LFE channel with +10db gain (same as the AC3 stream).

So you don't need to change the level of the LFE channel.
