Hi,
I read BeSure guide on how to encode AC3 files to create a AC3-CD.
When I convert my files from AC3 to WAV using BeSure and BeSweet and try to play those files on my PC, I can not hear any normal sound, it just sounds like interference on all tracks.
Also when I burn those WAVs to the CD and try to play them back on my standalone, I get the same interference-like sound, nothing is working.
Can anyone pls help me? I have followed all instructions and can't get it to work.
All AC3 files are OK, I can listen to them in PowerDVD and all sound is OK.
Thanks,

I've recently been using foobar2000 (http://www.foobar2000.org) for all my DVD transcoding needs (mostly AC3 to HE-AAC using the foo_nero plugin, f'in rocks!) and its been working great for me, and with my limited ripping experience, it is far easier to setup because everything is run through a GUI. I've attempted to use BeSweet and the BeSweet GUI, but I was just too confused by the mass of settings.
A copy of foobar special (http://www.foobar2000.org/foobar_special.exe) comes with an AC3 decoder and the ability to write a WAV file and also many other types of media files.
Foobar2000 might be for you, even if you only use it to see if you can obtain a clean AC3 to WAV transcode.

Is your standalone hooked up to a Dolby Digital receiver? If so, are you using digital out to digital in?

Yes, my standalone is hooked to dolby digital receiver. When I play DVDs on my standalone I have no problem with sound, I get 5.1 channels, sound crisp and clear.
I used BeSweet 1.4 to encode from AC3 to WAV.
Shouldn't AC3 CDs work the same way like DVD audio? I mean produce the 5.1 channel sound without any picture on TV?
And my AC3 source here is 5.1 channel, when I play the DVD on my standalone from which I extracted AC3 tracks, everything plays fine.
As I mentioned, I extracted AC3 tracks with DVD2AVI and they play fine in AC3 format on PowerDVD. I think the problem is in AC3 to WAV transcoding. I have followed the instructions from BeSure guide, but I can not get it to work.
Shouldn't those transcoded WAV files be playable on my PC as well?
The problem is that they play on the PC but sound is like pure interference, no words, no music, just squeaking...
PLS help. Thanks!

First of all, the Dolby Digital-wav solution simply doesn't work with some standalones. Yours is probably one of these.
Secondly, DD-wavs are not playable on a PC, the AC3 needs to be extracted with BeSplit. See the AC3 FAQ.

Kpex,
I have read the AC3 Q&A and Audio FAQ. In Audio FAQ it is mentioned that you need to extract AC3 from DD WAV, why would I do that when I started from AC3 track (which I extracted from DVD2AVI) and already encoded that AC3 track to DD Wav? I would need to go back from DD WAV to AC3 again? I know that source AC3 is OK.
Also in AC3 Q&A it mentions that you can playback the DD WAV with filter Valex's AC3filter. I will try to download that filter and see if I can play my DD WAVs.
About standalone I do not know, I guess I will have to keep trying.
Did anyone else experience this problem when they did not have installed AC3 filter?

Please reread the Audio FAQ question 24a (soon to be the AC3 faq #15), ddwavs can not be played back with a PC, the ac3 must be extracted.
