If your div3 file isn't an AVI, then what is it? Because as far as I know the only container format capable of holding divx3 that VDub supports is AVI.
That said for DivX3 decoding via VFW you need DivX311alpha, DivX 5.xx or ffvfw.

Well, I am new to this and am trying to learn as I go.
This past week I have made leaps and bounds of progress.
I was digging through some old Cd's And I found a copy of Monty Python. I thought Man that would be great to be able to watch on the regular Tv via DVD format.
I Explored the disc and the end tag says it it a AVI file but TMPGenc wont open it, says needs a codec, looking closer, I see it was made with (DivX).AVI. Tried to open it with VirtualDub, and it says I need a plugin.
I wish I knew a bit more but I am afraid I am lost for the moment.
This is the error I get:
[!] Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DIV3' (Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 V3 [Hack: DivX Low-Motion]).
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to
decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct stream copy' is available for this video.
Any Further help? I would be greatfull.
