File # limit on dvd-r

Can anyone tell me if/what the file number limit is on a dvd-r disk?
Could I put 10,000 files on 1 dvd-r?

You can put 100,000 files on a DVD-R as long as they fit! The size is 4.7 GB, but I heard they actually only do a tiny bit less then that.

Isn't there a limit to the number of files that you can have in a single directory? Something like 64,000?

Proably, but I don't have to worry about that.

Calculation: sector size is 2 KB, capacity is ~4700000 KB, so you can put max. aprox. 2350000 short files on DVD. Actually less, because directories will then took some data space too.
